Common questions
How long should we try before seeing a fertility specialist?
Twelve months of regular unprotected intercourse, or six months if the female partner is over 35. Come sooner if periods are irregular or absent, if there is known endometriosis or previous pelvic surgery, if there have been two or more miscarriages, or if a sperm problem is already known.
My AMH is low. Does that mean I cannot have a baby?
No. AMH mainly predicts how many eggs are likely to be collected in an IVF cycle. It is a much weaker predictor of whether you can conceive, and it says very little about egg quality, which is driven mainly by age.
We have had two failed IVF cycles. Is it worth continuing?
Often, yes, but not by repeating the same cycle. The useful question is where the previous cycles failed: egg numbers, fertilisation, embryo development, chromosomal status, or the endometrium. Each answer points to a different change.
Do you see patients for a second opinion only?
Yes. A second opinion consultation is a detailed review of previous cycles and results, with a written summary of what could reasonably be changed. There is no obligation to transfer your care.
Do you treat patients travelling from outside the UAE?
Yes. Much of the assessment can be organised before you arrive, so that the first consultation is spent on the treatment plan rather than on collecting history.
